Fundraiser for My First Novel

Hello Everyone,

My name is Joshua Adams. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a writer and educator from Chicago. I will be an author pretty soon, as I am not too far from finishing my first novel, a historical fantasy (short pitch: the Civil War + dragons!) called “Wade in the Ashes.”

The story follows Siah Matthews, a conductor on the Underground Railroad. One night, her mission intertwines with James and Lue; a freedman dragged back into slavery and a timid girl carrying a stolen dragon egg in her bag. The group later meets Gilead, a radical abolitionist and skilled swordsman who believes God Almighty directed him to end slavery. After witnessing the shocking means Gilead is willing to go to, Siah is forced to reconcile an impossible choice: give up the best chance to save her people or lose her soul in the process.

To help with expenses (editing, fellowships, contests, etc.), I’m doing a fundraiser. You can sign up here (also posted link below). Whether you donate or not, I will email you all a PDF of the first half of the novel (all the chapters before the climax) for free! I’m sending it on this Sunday, January 26th. You can share it with others as well if you’d like.
